Mohammed Abdi is a retired farmer, he migrated to Stockolm in 1984 from Mogadisshu as a result of lack of work and political unrest. Abdi was a normadic herder and spent nearly all his time outdoors. He has fond memories a large shade tree that provided meeting place for him and his friends in the village. Abdi had 4 children in Somalia intially he migrated to Stockholm on his own and worked there for 4 years and sent regular remittance to his family and estended family members. In 1988 Abdi's wife and 4 children joined him in Stockholm, he subsequetly had 2 more chilren. In Stokholm, Abdi took on rles within the agriculture industry and this meant he travelled outside of stckholm and stayed away from his family for long periods.
